Driver ID and Disable Module from Sensium

Our driver ID module connects easily via “Plug & Play” to Sensium’s telematics device, the TRACKbox TB2.

Know who is driving your vehicles and how they are being driven. Ideal when fleet vehicles are used by more than one employee, Driver ID allows you to identify driver behaviour as well as how much time is being spent on jobs, these critical insights will improve fleet efficiencies.

Sensium’s Disable Module acts like a “kill switch”

The Disable Module is a hardware based “kill switch” which can be used to remotely disable equipment, or a vehicles starter from any location. When connected to our TRACKbox TB2, this module uses an encrypted two way data connection with ‘Acknowledgement’ to ensure data security and reliability.

The remote disable function can be accessed using the Connect app or our API.

The Benefits of Driver ID for Fleet Managers

A fleet manager employs a driver ID module in fleet cars when loaning them to staff for several key reasons. Firstly, the module provides precise tracking of vehicle usage, attributing each trip to a specific driver. This accountability ensures that drivers are more conscientious about their driving habits, knowing their actions are monitored. Such transparency can lead to improved driving behavior, reducing the likelihood of accidents and vehicle misuse.

Fleet efficiency
Secondly, the driver ID module aids in efficient fleet management by generating detailed reports on vehicle usage patterns. These insights help in optimising vehicle allocation, maintenance schedules, and fuel consumption, ultimately reducing operational costs. For instance, identifying high-mileage drivers can prompt timely vehicle servicing, preventing unexpected breakdowns.

Unauthorised usage
Moreover, the module enhances security and reduces unauthorised usage. Only authorised personnel can access the vehicles, safeguarding the fleet against theft or misuse. In the event of an incident or violation, the system provides critical data for investigations and insurance claims.

Compliance and legal obligation
Finally, integrating a driver ID module supports compliance with legal and corporate policies. It ensures that only qualified and certified drivers operate the vehicles, maintaining safety standards and regulatory adherence. Overall, a driver ID module is a valuable tool for promoting efficiency, accountability, and security within a fleet management system.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A driver ID module is a device installed in fleet vehicles to identify and authenticate drivers. It typically uses methods like key fobs, or cards to log each driver's activity and link it to their unique ID.

  • The pool vehicle booking software is designed in Brisbane, Australia. Further, our TRACKbox hardware (that works in conjunction with the driver ID module) is manufactured in Brisbane.

  • Benefits include improved accountability, enhanced security, better driving behaviour, detailed usage reports, optimised maintenance schedules, and compliance with legal and corporate policies.

  • By linking each trip to a specific driver, the module ensures that drivers know their actions are being tracked, which encourages more responsible behaviour and reduces the likelihood of vehicle misuse.

  • We’ve designed our fleet management software to be as easy to use, and as intuitive, as possible. We don’t think you’ll need more than a short video to get up and running but we are more than happy to provide training if you’d like it.

  • We have free email and phone support available through extended trading hours.

  • Yes, Sensium’s driver ID modules are designed to integrate seamlessly with our fleet management systems called Sensium Connect, allowing for comprehensive data analysis and streamlined operations.

  • Any shared vehicle (from lawn mowers to yellow plant to buses to jet skis) can have one of Sensium’s Driver ID modules installed.

  • We currently have the system set up to use ID cards (most normal staff cards will work but check with us) and RFID fobs, which we can supply.

  • The module ensures that only authorised personnel can operate the vehicles, reducing the risk of theft or unauthorised usage. It also provides real-time alerts if an unauthorised access attempt is made.

  • Yes, when installed with a TRACKbox telematics device, the module records data on driving habits such as speed, braking, and acceleration, which can be analysed to promote safer driving practices and identify areas for improvement.

  • The module collects data on driver identity, trip duration, routes taken, and driving behaviour. This information is used for reporting, compliance, safety analysis, and optimising fleet operations.

  • Installation typically involves integrating the module with the vehicle’s existing systems, which can be done by a professional. Maintenance is minimal, usually involving regular software updates and occasional hardware checks to ensure functionality.
